I show how I prepare my onion bed before transplanting them. Over the years of gardening, I have found that you can build incredible garden soil that is incredibly productive without needing to go to the expense of raised beds. They sure are a lot less work to setup and maintain. I used mowed up leaves and grass on my garden beds last falls and now it is time to remove that so I can prepare the soil for planting. Is tilling really needed or can you get away without it?
